At #VUBS lecturers have a unique opportunity to integrate business challenges into their subjects. In this way, VU BS students can apply their knowledge to finding solutions for business challenges and try hands-on learning. ✨
These are the main advantages lecturers see in using business challenges as a learning tool:
🟣 A way to develop practical skills, including interpersonal, conflict-resolution.
🟣 Boosting students’ self-confidence, seeing students’ strengths and weaknesses more easily.
🟣 More freedom to improvise.
We are happy that this year VU BS students got a chance to solve @odoredamore.shop, “1Partner”, and @cargogo.eu business challenges. 💡

The newest results of the @globalentrepreneurshipmonitor (GEM) revealed that entrepreneurship education worldwide has also seen little change over the past 25 years. 📚
Even though Lithuania’s entrepreneurship education received the lowest rating, the available physical infrastructure received the highest one. 🏫
Want to read more about the newest GEM results? We share the link to the international report in the comments. ⬇️
🟣 As GEM Lithuanian Team Lead, VU BS Prof. Dr. Saulė Mačiukaitė-Žvinienė shares:
"GEM is evidence that long-term scientific research can be developed through collaboration between universities, businesses, and governments on an international scale. Despite being financially supported by social partners worldwide, this program has managed to remain independent of influence, providing objective assessments of nearly 70 percent of the world's entrepreneurship ecosystems."
#Entrepreneurship #Science #Insight
In this year's @globalentrepreneurshipmonitor (GEM), Lithuania was characterized by extensive entrepreneurial networking – seven out of ten adults know someone who has recently started a business. 🚀✨
Nevertheless, despite the improving business environment, the percentage of adults starting or managing their businesses in Lithuania was almost halved in 2023 (6.7 percent) compared to 2022 (12.7 percent). 📉
Want to read more about the newest GEM results? We share the link to the international report in the BIO.
At #VUBS, we are proud to be the GEM Team in Lithuania, a part of the global research fellows. 🤝
🟣 As @vilniusuniversity Rector Prof. Dr. Rimvydas Petrauskas shares:
"International recognition in the scientific, business and political community has made GEM a global resource for entrepreneurship information. This is the greatest achievement of this program, and the participation of Vilnius University Business School researchers in this program is an undoubted accomplishment, the results of which can be successfully used in decision-making in the Lithuanian economy and other areas."
#Entrepreneurship #Science #Insight
We are celebrating - Lithuania took 4th place in the @globalentrepreneurshipmonitor (GEM) Entrepreneurship Index ranking with a 6.1 score - also the fact that 11 out of 13 entrepreneurship development conditions improved in our country. 👏✨
At #VUBS, we are proud to be the GEM Team in Lithuania. Of course, we couldn’t have done our best work without "Moody's Corporation", which has been supporting our participation in the GEM project.
🟣 The head of the company in Lithuania, Aukse Zukauskiene, shares:
"Moody's is proud to support GEM and believes in its long-term impact and significance. Through gathering insights on new businesses, business development, and their economic and social impact, the research provides invaluable insights into entrepreneurial trends at the state level and helps business leaders make better decisions."
🟣 We will share some more GEM results this week. Read about them in the link in BIO.

🏆 #VUBS Prof. Dr. Deimantė Vasiliauskaitė just clinched the Best Presentation Award at the "2023 2nd International Conference on Computational Social Sciences and Sustainability" with the topic "Climate-related disclosures for non-monetary policy portfolios in euro area central banks."
📚 Presentation featured a robust methodology and insightful bibliometrics,
📈 highlighted the significance of accurate data for central banks to tackle climate risks,
👁️🗨️ and discussed how enhanced transparency in reports leads to more informed decisions.
🌍 Excitingly, her research shows that starting in 2023, ECB and Eurosystem central banks will issue annual climate-related disclosures, aligning with Paris Agreement targets.
Wishing all VUBS academics continued success in impactful research endeavors. 🚀

The time has come to congratulate the best VU Business School professor of the year 2023! 💜 🏆
✨ Congratulations to #VUBS Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elzė Rudienė. ✨
"The most important thing for me when teaching is to remind students that theory is not just for scientists - it brings together research and many other interesting discoveries. In addition to teaching, I also supervise students writing their final theses. I always believe in them and encourage them, and students know how to surprise me with their creativity," says E. Rudienė.
💜 When sharing their impressions of E. Rudienė's courses, students mention practical learning through creative tasks and discussions of real situations and events. This style of teaching also helps them to better understand the theoretical aspects of the scientific literature.
💜 Are you or were you one of E. Rudienė‘s students? Share your impression and greetings in the comments.

📊 Exciting Research Alert!
Professor Dr. Deimantė Vasiliauskaitė and Laurynas Savicius, a dedicated Bachelor’s student in International Business Studies at #VUBS in their latest science article delve into the Impact of Energy-related Sanctions on Russia amid the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, shedding light on Europe's energy sector.
Main insights:
🌐 Geopolitical events, like Russian sanctions, influence persistent volatility shocks, emphasizing the importance of understanding market dynamics during uncertain times.
📈 While mean returns show consistency across periods, the stationarity test suggests non-stationarity in index returns. The ARCH model highlights the enduring impact of geopolitical events on market volatility.
🔍 The findings underscore the importance of understanding market dynamics during geopolitical uncertainty, providing valuable insights into the consequences of energy-related sanctions on the EU.
