As you are aware, the situation regarding the COVID-19 virus in Europe and around the world is changing every day. Vilnius University is taking full responsibility to cover your self-isolation costs. Therefore, it is very important for us to understand your arrival intentions.
The following information is only applicable to international students of Vilnius University (both degree and exchange/Erasmus+ students).
Please read carefully all the information on this page. Here you will find all the matters related to arrival to Lithuania, your studies and COVID-19.
Lithuanian students are advised to follow the information here.

Students, who arrive from countries with COVID-19 incidence rate above 16 cases/100 000 population, will have to self-isolate for 14 days.
Students arriving in the Republic of Lithuania from the affected countries (where COVID-19 incidence reaches 25 cases per 100 thousand population) will have to have been tested negative for the coronavirus infection within the last three days. You must bring the test with you. If you absolutely cannot get tested in your country before your arrival, please inform us about this (), it will be possible to get tested here in Lithuania within 24 hours after the arrival at your own expense.
Check whether you are required to arrive
We understand that at the moment it may be impossible for you to come to Lithuania. Or due to some restrictions you cannot begin your studies on time. In this case you are expected to inform your academic unit (faculty) and kindly ask for the ways how you could study online.
Studies will be only conducted remotely at some study programmes and therefore it is highly important that you check the recommendations of your academic unit (faculty) before planning your arrival.
At Business School, you are expected to start your studies face-to-face, but we guarantee the distant learning for all of our foreign students during the autumn semester.

Before arrival
Migration matters
If it is required for you to arrive to Lithuania to study, please make sure that you are allowed to enter Lithuania and that you have collected all the documents required for migration.
You may need a visa or another document confirming your right to enter Lithuania. Please, check the information here or contact Vilnius University ().
Self-isolation matters
Your arrival dates and first few weeks in Lithuania might highly depend on whether you come from a COVID-19 affected country or not, according to Lithuanian national regulations. You must check the current status of the country that you are coming from or will have to travel through before your arrival here.
- In case you are coming from not-affected country, self-isolation is not mandatory for you.
But be cautious, there is a huge possibility to catch a virus during your flight. Therefore, we kindly ask you to be careful for the next two weeks: constantly wash your hands, always wear your face protection mask when you are in public places, avoid mass gatherings.- When COVID-19 affected countries are crossed (by car, public transport, etc.) - 14 days of self-isolation will be mandatory for you, except air transport, if you do not leave transit area at the airport.
- There is no need for self-isolation, when you arrive from COVID-19 free country through Poland by land avoiding unnecessary stops.
- In case you are coming from COVID-19 affected country with COVID-19 incidence rate above 16 cases/100 000 population, 14 days of self-isolation will be mandatory for you. All costs of self-isolation will be covered by Vilnius University.
- Instructions how to reach your hotel will be provided or transportation from airport (or bus station) will be organized for you. You should get an SMS with the number of a car that will be waiting for you right in front of the airport.
- You will be taken straight to the hotel room.
- 3 meals per day will be provided.
- In case you are coming from COVID-19 affected country with COVID-19 incidence rate above 25 cases/100 000 population, 14 days of self-isolation will be mandatory for you. Also you will have to have been tested negative for the coronavirus infection within the last three days. If you absolutely cannot get tested in your country before your arrival, please inform us about this (
), it will be possible to get tested here in Lithuania within 24 hours after the arrival at your own expense.

! You are not allowed to self-isolate in the dormitory. You are allowed to self-isolate in another place of your own. You are expected to inform Vilnius University () about this decision.
! Make sure you contacted Vilnius University about your arrival day and time. Fill the questionnaire and you will get emails from Vilnius University with all the details. If you did not get any arrival information from Vilnius University and it is only a few days left before your flight, please email us at or call 00370 5 268 7182 in any emergency case.
! Persons returning / arriving from countries that are on the list of countries affected by COVID-19 (coronavirus infection) or persons travelling through the affected countries, except for travelling by air when not leaving the airport transit area, when travelling by air or sea, are required to submit, at the airport or seaport, a completed paper questionnaire to the staff of the National Public Health Centre under the Ministry of Health performing medical-quarantine control (the questionnaire form is available on the website) or the confirmation of the registration with the National Public Health Centre.
And when travelling by land transport, they are required to register with the National Public Health Centre within 12 hours of returning / arriving in the Republic of Lithuania (https://keleiviams.nvsc.lt/lt/form), as such persons are deemed to have been exposed to the virus. These persons fall subject to mandatory isolation in accordance with the procedure established by the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on the Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases in Humans.
Visa matters
We understand that it may be impossible at the moment for you to get a visa and come to Lithuania. In this case, please, let your academic unit (faculty) know that you will come as soon as it will be possible. And before that you will have a possibility to study remotely.

Your accommodation
In case you are coming from not-affected country, you are allowed to go to the dormitory or another place of your own. Make sure, you know the exact address of your residency in Lithuania before coming.
In case you are coming from COVID-19 affected country, 14 days of self-isolation will be mandatory for you. Make sure you contacted Vilnius university
about all the self-isolation details. You are not allowed to self-isolate in dormitory.

Arrival matters
Address of residency in Lithuania
You are expected to know the exact address of your place to stay for self-isolation in Lithuania before you leave your home country. Please, contact Vilnius university
to get this address. Otherwise you will not be allowed to enter Lithuania. You are not allowed to self-isolate in dormitory.
If it is not necessary for you to self-isolate it is important for you to be aware of an exact residence address in Lithuania since you will be asked to fill a questionnaire regarding your travels before arriving to the country. Entering the country, you will be asked to fill a questionnaire.
COVID-19 testing

Arriving from other countries if you are not feeling any symptoms of COVID-19 but would still like to check whether you have been infected, testing is possible at your own expense.
