VU Business School, in making socially responsible decisions, not only considers the impact on the environment but also aims to positively influence the mindset of the entire community. Observing waste sorting, monitoring the consumption of community members, and noting the number of collected containers, it was observed that people do not take deposit containers but leave them near the recycling bins. To ensure that deposit containers do not end up in plastic containers but contribute to the goodness of the Sharing is Caring mission, VU Business School has joined the socially responsible initiative of „Lidl Lietuva“!
LIDL2

Deposits collected at VU Business School will be sent to the nearest „Lidl Lietuva“collection points. The funds collected will be allocated to children's day centers, and the retail chain will double the contribution. „Lidl Lietuva“distributes this support to organizations overseeing children's day centers "Save the Children", "Caritas", and the "The Order of Malta Relief Organisation".

We invite you, when visiting VU Business School, to leave your deposit in a specially marked place, thus making a socially responsible decision - not only to protect nature but also to take care of those who need help the most. Your discarded bottle is a support worth over 20 cents.

December is not only a time of winter holidays but also an opportunity to congratulate the VUBS best professor of the year.

In 2023, this award will be granted to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elzė Rudienė. At #HomeOfEntrepreneurship, she teaches marketing, communication channels in marketing, consumer behaviour in digital space, and integrated marketing communications. Congratulations!

"The most important thing for me when teaching is to remind students that theory is not just for scientists - it brings together research and many other interesting discoveries. In addition to teaching, I also supervise students writing their final theses. I always believe in them and encourage them, and students know how to surprise me with their creativity," says E. Rudienė.

When sharing their impressions of E. Rudienė's courses, students mention practical learning through creative tasks and discussions of real situations and events. This style of teaching also helps them to better understand the theoretical aspects of the scientific literature.

Dear freshmen,

As Vilnius University Business School (VUBS) student Boris Kim says, Go further than you are right now. The "Asian track" course - developed for freshmen by the VUBS in cooperation with the VU Confucius Institute - offers an opportunity to develop new competencies and acquire intercultural knowledge beyond the more familiar Europe.

If you are a VUBS freshman, try the "Asian track" course to learn about the cultural characteristics of Asian countries, the Chinese language, and how to successfully develop business in Asian markets. And while learning Chinese can be challenging, the practice of speaking the language facilitates integration in a foreign country and opens up more career paths.

To expand your limits next year, you still can still apply until December 12th for the "Asian Track" course.

The competition is open for 1st-year bachelor students who submit a free-form application and a cover letter to the Study Service in the Vilnius University Information System (VU IS) by the deadline (specified above).

What is waiting for you?

- Chinese language and Asian culture courses during semesters II-IV,

- a certificate confirming completion of the course,

- a semester of exchange at a university in South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Taiwan and/or a summer camp.

How the competition works:

- The selection committee will organize motivational interviews after the 12th of December.

- This module is organized for groups of at least 10-12 and no more than 20 students.

- Students will be informed by the 15th of December whether or not they are accepted to an "Asian track" course group.

- Chinese language teaching is provided in English-Chinese.

You can hear more about "Asian Track" from students who have already tried the course. In the interview with Boris Kim and Andrea Carolina Ramirez Salaverria, 4th year International Business (in English) students at VUBS, they share experiences about Chinese language classes and bilateral exchange programs at Hong Kong and Singapore universities.

Hackathon, which took place on 25-27 of November, was the final event of the "Education inside metaverse 2022" - week of virtual educational technologies events. During the final round  of contest (on 27th of November) 9 teams of finalists competed for aspiring prize fund: 6,000 euros, valuable mentorship programs, and even unique NFT products!

The EdTech hackathon "Education inside metaverse 2022" has attracted huge attention from enthusiasts and experts in the international education technology sector. More than 300 participants from more than 20 countries of the world registered for the virtual event! During the hackathon, teams of participants, with the help of 30 professional mentors, presented their ideas, which will help to organize an innovative educational process in the future, process, which will be supplemented by various intelligent metauniverse technologies. From the 15 formed teams, which entered the contest, 9 strongest ones progressed to the final round. Even 3 teams were fully or partially made up of students studying at the Business School of Vilnius University. Who knows, maybe the ideas and solutions, presented by the young innovators, will be realized and in the future will become an important part of educational smart technologies as well as metauniverse in Lithuania and the whole world?

Winners of "EdTech Hackathon: Education inside metaverse 2022" competition this year were team of students of Vilnius University Business School - "METAStudents". Team commented on the unexpected victory very emotionally: "What? We actually won?? - these were our first words after hearing the decision. We are very happy with this victory and accept it as motivation to work and to trust in our abilities. It was completely unexpected, considering that all the teams were very strong. "METAstudents" is a name that perfectly suits each of us, because the team consists of motivated, creative, hardworking and the most fun people, connecting two nations, Lithuania and Ukraine. In fact, one of the reasons why "Buzzi" – our idea - was created, was to provide a tool for people from different parts of the world to communicate and collaborate for a common goal. "Buzzi" - a simulation of the virtual business world, provides the opportunity to learn through business simulation, because we noticed that only theoretical knowledge is not enough. "Buzzi" would give you a virtual space to build a business, learn to suffer financially or fail in a way that would be painful in the real market."

užsklandai

One of the representatives of the hackathon commission, businessman, investor Martynas Kandzeras was happy not only with the number of contestants during the competition, but also with the ideas they chose to present: "It's nice to see so many teams from different countries of the world solving educational challenges. And the most fascinating thing is that they are trying to innovate in the Metaverse environment, where we will see many opportunities in the coming years. The ideas of all teams were valuable and have potential for further development. As a result, I am confident that we will see these teams later working on the presented projects."

EdTech week started with the opening virtual international conference "EdTech conference: education inside metaverse 2022". During it, representatives of educational technologies, metauniverse, education, and business sectors gave presentations, participated in discussions that revealed the trends of educational technologies, metauniverse and possibilities of their integration into modern educational, business activities in Lithuania and in the whole world. Vytenis Mockus, project manager of "EdTech Hackathon 2022", commented on why the organizers focused the topic of this year's conference and hackathon on the metauniverse: "Metauniverse, as a whole, combines virtual experiences, and can contribute to the quality of education of students and other learners and their improvement. This sphere is not widely developed in the education sector in Lithuania, we believe that the Edtech conference and the hackathon contributed to practical knowledge about the possibilities of using metauniverse technologies and brought these technologies closer to the education sector and the learner."

Event organizers - Vilnius University Business School, "Western Union Lithuania" and the EdTech Center of the National Education Agency. The event is partially financed by the European Union under the Project "Digital Transformation of Education" (EdTech).
