Cooperation between VU Business School and VU Confucius Institute opens up new opportunities for business study students – the new China Track study module proposed by two institutions will allow the development of new competencies, acquisition of intercultural knowledge, which are essential for the development of business in the Chinese market.
Students' interest in this module has proven that China Track is a particularly attractive field of study – 28 motivated first-year students of the International Business program participated in the selection process.
Member of the commission, students’ representative Augustė Bagdonavičiūtė after the selection process commented: “Although I didn't have this opportunity myself, being a first-year student, it was very exciting and interesting to listen to every applicant. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that we have so many enthusiastic, creative, and motivated students in Business School who already have their own business ideas or even already have started working on them. I really believe that China Track project will help them to become better entrepreneurs!"
The students who participated in the selection have chosen the China Track module for various reasons – some of them planned to link their business to the Chinese market, others were already cooperating with partners from China, there were also those whose family roots were in this country, so the desire to learn the language of ancestors was highly expressed.
The 18 selected participants of the China Track module will start studying the Chinese language and culture from the Spring semester. After completing the two-year course, the students will have the opportunity to choose an exchange semester at a Chinese university or a summer camp.
Vilnius University Business School pays special attention to improving the quality of studies. This issue became even more pressing during the pandemic, when studies moved to a remote space and maintaining the quality of studies, ensuring smooth communication between faculty, students, administration, and other interested members of our community became an even greater challenge. The objective indicators show that the community of Business School is coping well - fewer and fewer students decide to terminate their study contracts.
“We can really be happy with the indicators of student satisfaction, progress and dropout numbers. Student dropout in the 2019-2020 academic year decreased by more than 60 percent, compared to 2018-2019. Student satisfaction with studies remains high, with 83% of students recommending their study program to others. We believe that this is greatly influenced by the quality of our proactive academic counseling, the focus on student feedback, and sometimes just plain human conversation.
This year has been a big challenge for all of us, we had to adapt and deal with a wave of various, often unpleasant, emotions. We believe that together, by talking in our academic community and looking for solutions, we can solve all the problems that have arisen and together we can rejoice in our achievements“ – says doc. dr. Jurgita Vizgirdaitė, deputy director of VU Business School.
Academic counselors are in constant contact with students, seeking to proactively address issues, being a link between faculty and students. The aim is also to provide lecturers with all possible support for high-quality and smooth distance learning.
If you have any observations, suggestions or just want to talk, we strongly encourage you to contact academic advisors or write an e-mail by mail
Waiting for Christmas this year is special in all senses – the restrictions of the pandemic, the longing of colleagues, relatives, friends. Despite all instability, VU BS invites all members of the community – colleagues from VU, students, friends with their families, to unite and join the Christmas mission – to cheer up and take care of those who now need the support and attention from all of us.
This November Vilnius University (VU) Business School has participated in the first online edition of the De Vinci Study Abroad Fair, organized by partners Pôle Universitaire Léonard de Vinci in Paris, France. The Fair, which focuses on student mobility and studies abroad, is popular worldwide and this year attracted 57 partner universities from United States, Korea, Malaysia, India, Taiwan, Viet Nam, China, Australia, almost all European countries.
“The first experience of the study fair online was more than positive and especially nowadays, facing challenges of COVID 19 situation in the world, online study fairs might become a quite normal part of universities’ life. However, we really hope to have a possibility next year to participate in a regular study fair, if not – this online experience has shown that we are well prepared for virtual presentations as well,” Danutė Butkienė, International exchange coordinator said.
During the De Vinci Study Abroad Fair the students were able to discuss live with the actors of student mobility who were answering their questions about partner institutions around the world, Erasmus+ grants and all the details of staying in the partner institution – admission requirements, professors, lectures, dormitories, life cost in the country and many other questions.
VU Business School had a possibility to present itself in a live conference for the students that were interested to find out more about Business school and the programs. It seemed that one hour was not enough - it flew by quickly presenting and answering a number of students’ questions.
For students who end their internship at the end of November, see the agenda of the upcoming internship defense.

Find your supervisor from VU BS and check the date & time of your defense.
In case your internship ended earlier - you should arrange the time of your defense with your supervisor from the University.

Today, on November 12, a memorandum on the establishment of a research and innovation centre at the Vilnius University (VU) Business School was signed between VU and the University of Lancaster at the Embassy of the United Kingdom. One of the main goals of the new R-E-D (Research, Engagement and Delivery research) centre is to strengthen the research potential in Lithuania and the entire Central European region by developing and expanding the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, strengthening high-quality research and business partnerships and at the same time business studies.
“This is a historic event both for Vilnius University and the whole higher education sector in Lithuania. After long negotiations, two universities will unite their efforts in developing entrepreneurship and innovation activities. This step will strengthen the development of science-based knowledge, set an exceptional example for international cooperation, and help increase the partnership between science and business. We are proud of the leadership of Vilnius University Business School in this field,” VU Rector Prof Rimvydas Petrauskas says.
This agreement is a new quality direction in Lithuanian higher education. Unlike the traditional cooperation in promoting international mobility, initiating joint research projects and creating joint networks, with this partnership a world-renowned university comes to Lithuania, which will strengthen Lithuanian research potential, will develop high-level business research in the field of business together with VU Business School, will strengthen the ecosystem of Lithuanian start-ups and encourage the development of innovation. The agreement between VU and Lancaster also includes cooperation in the field of studies in order to strengthen business studies and develop lifelong learning in the field of entrepreneurship.
British Ambassador to Lithuania Brian Olley says: “I warmly congratulate Vilnius and Lancaster Universities on building this significant strategic partnership, which will strengthen higher business education and will boost bilateral and international research collaboration between UK and Lithuania, crucial to transforming economies and lives.”
Over the next two years, VU Business School and Lancaster University School of Management will also have to develop an action programme to make VU Business School the leader in Central Europe.
“We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Vilnius University Business School and very much look forward to the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for collaborative research and engagement. Vilnius University has a rich and established history and will be a valuable extension of LUMS’ international community. We are proud to attract students from all over the globe and have international partnerships that help ensure our world-leading research remains at the cutting-edge, not only to shape our teaching, but to transform organisations and communities.
There are lots of synergies between LUMS and Vilnius, and over the next two years we will establish how we can work together to develop and share best practice in areas such as family business, entrepreneurship, small and medium sized business support and regional development, to sharpen teaching and bring about positive change in the UK and Lithuania”, Professor Angus Laing, Dean of Lancaster University Management School, says.
“Many positive changes have taken place in the Lithuanian higher education system by improving the quality of studies, the competitiveness of science and innovations, and by strengthening the country’s research potential. Along with these changes, the country’s universities have become global market players. The main direction of the future of Lithuanian higher education is internationality and interdisciplinary, In this way, Lithuanian higher education institutions will continue to strengthen our country's education system. Today, business schools are a catalyst for innovation development skills in the strongest countries in the world. With the arrival of a world-class university in Lithuania, VU opens up new opportunities to become an entrepreneurial leader in Europe,” says the Chairwoman of the Lithuanian Educational Council Prof Dr Saulė Mačiukaitė-Žvinienė.
The agreement was signed by VU Rector Prof Dr R. Petrauskas and Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lancaster Prof Simon Guy. Due to the pandemic situation in the world, the agreement was signed in a virtual ceremony and broadcast live from the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Vilnius and the University of Lancaster.
Digital #superheroes wanted!
Dear freshmen of undergraduate studies,
These days we live in a world full of challenges and volatility. Even though we made every effort to ensure that you have the opportunity to study and meet each other in person, the pandemic situation in Lithuania is deteriorating rapidly.
Having assessed all the current risks associated with the spread of COVID-19, in order to protect students, faculty, and their loved ones, we decided to take all precautionary measures and from the following week, October 26, temporarily carry out your studies remotely.
Depending on the circumstances, this decision will be reviewed in four weeks' time.
Our biggest priority is the safety of our community members, therefore we do everything we can to ensure that.
Let's be healthy and protect each other!
For Bachelor students
For Master students

Dear students,
Towards the beginning of a brand new school year, we would like to congratulate the new and existing members of the VU VM community on this beautiful holiday.
The last school year has brought us a number of challenges, but with joint efforts, we have successfully overcome this difficult period. We are no longer new to the virtual learning environment - both teachers and students have already mastered the peculiarities of distance learning.
Although we all missed you and would like to meet in person this semester, we must make responsible and safe decisions after considering all the risks associated with COVID-19, especially the large flows of freshmen and the number of incoming foreign students.
Everyone is invited to attend the introductory celebration scheduled for September 14th.
The beginning of the academic year for I-IV year bachelor students is September 14. Lectures for master students start on September 17.
When the pandemic situation changes, we will be happy to welcome you all to #VUBS auditoriums. Hopefully soon!
We thank you for your understanding and sincerely wish you to stay healthy,
